Gamboa and Lopez score stoppages
Yuri Gamboa stopped Rogers Mtagwa in 2 and Juan Manuel Lopez halted Steve Luevano in 7 rounds at the Wamu Theatre, Madison Square Garden, NYC.
Gamboa turned in a dominant performance, having Mtagwa down once in the first and twice in the second. The ref jumped in mercifully after Mtagwa went down for the second time after taking a one-sided beating.
Lopez also looked impressive in halting Luevano in the 7th round after flooring his opponent with an uppercut, right hook, left hand combination. The ref stopped the contest as Luevano protested on shaky legs.
This sets the scene for a Gamboa v Lopez fight soon and with both fighters in this sort of form it should be exciting!
