Urango Stopped By Alexander!

Devon Alexander stopped Juan Urango via 8th round stoppage of a closely contested fight. Although Alexander finished the fight with some excellent right uppercuts that had Urango down twice some felt the ending may have been premature.

Make your own mind up by watching the video of the 8th round below.

Going into the fight the judges had it close on points with two having Alexander just ahead and one having Urango marginally in front. The fight didn't play out as most experts had predicted. Most felt that Alexander would outbox and pick off the slower, come-forward Urango but Juan had good success timing his shots and going into the eighth seemed as though he may have turned the fight his way.

This all ended with the crunching right uppercut from Alexander. It was a devastating shot and Urango went down heavily; most fighters would have been out for the count. Juan beat the count but got caught again from an uppercut. Up he got again ready to continue and it could be argued that the referee could have let the fight continue since Urango was still keen and holding himself together fairly well.

Congratulations to Alexander who has now proved himself to be one of the very best 140 pounders in the world.
